Sexual Harassment Policy
Introduction
Sau. Prematai Patil Arts, Commerce & Science College, Gaudgaon is committed to providing a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The College has adopted the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and UGC Regulations, 2015 to ensure gender equality and protection against sexual harassment.
Definition of Sexual Harassment
As per the POSH Act, sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behavior (directly or by implication) such as:
- Physical contact and advances.
- Demand or request for sexual favors.
- Making sexually colored remarks.
- Showing pornography.
- Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
Objectives of the Policy
- To create and maintain a safe campus environment free from sexual harassment.
- To sensitize students and staff about gender equity and respectful conduct.
- To establish a redressal mechanism for complaints.
- To ensure confidentiality, fairness, and timely resolution of cases.
Mechanism for Redressal
The College has constituted the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in accordance with UGC guidelines.
- Any student, faculty, or staff may lodge a complaint in writing to the ICC.
- Complaints will be handled with confidentiality and sensitivity.
- The ICC shall conduct inquiries and recommend suitable action as per law.
Preventive Measures
- Organizing workshops, awareness programs, and sensitization sessions on gender equality.
- Displaying information regarding the policy and ICC at prominent locations in the college.
- Providing guidance and counselling support to victims.
