Anti-Ragging Policy

1. Introduction

Ragging is strictly prohibited in our institution as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, UGC Regulations (2009), Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act (1999), and other statutory bodies. The College maintains zero tolerance towards ragging and ensures a safe, healthy, and student-friendly environment.

2. What Constitutes Ragging?

As per UGC regulations, ragging includes any one or more of the following:

  • Teasing, abusing, or playing practical jokes.
  • Forcing a student to do acts against their will.
  • Any activity that causes mental or physical harm, humiliation, or discomfort.
  • Bullying, harassment, or disrupting normal academic activity.

3. Punishments for Ragging

Depending upon the severity of the offence, one or more of the following punishments shall be awarded:

  • Suspension from classes and academic privileges.
  • Debarring from appearing in examinations.
  • Withholding of scholarships or other benefits.
  • Rustication from the college for a specific period.
  • Expulsion from the institution.
  • Fine up to ₹25,000/-.
  • Legal action as per Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999 (imprisonment up to 2 years and fine up to ₹10,000).

4. Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC)

The College has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee consisting of the following members:

  1. Principal – Chairperson
  2. Senior Faculty Members – Members
  3. Representative from Administration – Member
  4. Representative from Parents – Member
  5. Student Representatives (senior & junior) – Members
  6. Representative from Local Police / NGO – Member

5. Anti-Ragging Squad (ARS)

An Anti-Ragging Squad works under the ARC, making surprise visits in hostels, canteens, common areas, and classrooms to ensure ragging-free environment.

6. Preventive Measures

  • Display of anti-ragging rules & helpline numbers on notice boards and website.
  • Undertaking from every student and parent at the time of admission declaring they will not indulge in ragging.
  • Orientation programs for freshers to integrate them into the academic environment.
  • Regular monitoring in hostels, playgrounds, and other student activity areas.

7. How to Report Ragging?

Students can report any incident of ragging through:

  • Direct complaint to the Principal / Anti-Ragging Committee.

8. Awareness

  • Anti-ragging posters and banners are displayed at prominent places.
  • Information about anti-ragging policy is included in the College Prospectus & Website.
  • Regular meetings of ARC and ARS are conducted to review preventive measures.
