Policy for Women Safety
Introduction
Our college is firmly committed to providing a safe, secure, and supportive environment for all female students, faculty, and staff. We recognize that women’s safety is integral to academic and professional growth, and therefore, the institution has adopted a comprehensive Policy for Women Safety in compliance with UGC, Maharashtra State Government, and Solapur University guidelines.
Objectives
- To ensure safety, security, and dignity of women on campus.
- To provide a mechanism for preventing and addressing gender-based violence, harassment, or discrimination.
- To create awareness among male and female students regarding mutual respect and gender sensitivity.
- To encourage women to pursue academic and extracurricular activities with confidence and without fear.
Institutional Mechanisms
- Women Development Cell (WDC):
- A functional cell that organizes regular workshops, seminars, and counseling sessions.
- Takes proactive measures to address women’s grievances and promote gender equity.
- Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) / POSH Committee:
- Constituted under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
- Ensures strict implementation of policies to prevent sexual harassment.
- Provides a confidential and transparent grievance redressal mechanism.
- Anti-Ragging & Safety Measures:
- Integration with Anti-Ragging Cell to ensure safety of first-year female students.
- Separate hostel facilities with female wardens and round-the-clock security.
- Counseling & Guidance Services:
- Psychological and legal counseling support available for women.
- Tie-ups with local NGOs and women helplines for additional support.
Safety Infrastructure
- 24×7 Security Guards and CCTV surveillance across campus.
- Well-lit corridors, classrooms, and outdoor areas.
- Separate Girls’ Common Room with basic amenities.
- First-aid and emergency medical facilities.
- Transport Assistance in case of late academic or extracurricular activities.
Awareness & Training Initiatives
- Regular self-defense training programs for female students.
- Gender sensitization workshops for faculty and students.
- Guest lectures by women achievers and legal experts.
- Celebrations of International Women’s Day and awareness drives.
Helpline & Support
- Women Safety Helpline Numbers displayed across campus.
- Dedicated Women Safety Nodal Officer available for assistance.
- Online and offline grievance registration facility.
Zero Tolerance Policy
The college follows a zero-tolerance policy towards:
- Eve-teasing
- Sexual harassment
- Stalking, bullying, or ragging
- Gender discrimination
Any violation will lead to strict disciplinary action, including suspension, rustication, or legal proceedings as per law.
